Kurtis Bowman completes Heathland redesign at Hacienda Links

La Hacienda Links Golf Resort on Spain’s south coast has reopened its Heathland course, following a renovation by Kurtis Bowman, who also recently completed work on the resort’s Links course.

“Having undertaken a major renovation of the Links, it was very important that we made improvements to the Heathland to bring it up to the standard of the other facilities at the resort,” said Javier Jimenez Casquet, director general at La Hacienda Links Golf Resort .

The Heathland project included the redesign of two holes, with Bowman converting the thirteenth from a par fifth to a fourth and the eighteenth from a fourth to a fifth. “Some of the changes that we have made were much needed, including moving the tee back on the eighteenth hole to create a challenging par five that matches the quality of the rest of the course,” said Casquet. “Using the best sustainable practices, we now have two outstanding courses that complement each other perfectly, and this is the ideal way to launch an exciting year for the resort as we build towards the opening of our new Fairmont hotel.”

The project has also included the renovation of all tees, bunkers and green complexes, regrassing some fairways, leveling the first and eleventh fairways, and landscaping work on holes two to five, ten, seventeen and eighteen, which included the planting of mastic trees.
